Why doesn’t my insurance pay for the full amount of your wellness, anti-aging, preventative medicine?

Unfortunately medical insurance companies do not cover what they consider preventive. Health insurance is actually disease oriented insurance, treating your chronic health symptoms with medications, that is not the answer! Chronic illnesses have an impact on your finances, your time, and your family life.

Investigative and preventative medicine gets to the root cause of your health problems to halt symptoms or prevent them from worsening. It is worth investing in your health, so you live longer and with vitality!

How long does an appointment last?

Family and urgent care visits, are typically 15 minutes long in-office, an annual physical is up to one hour. The cost is covered by your insurance, you will just be responsible for any copays.

In-Office wellness, preventative, anti-aging, investigative, alternative medical: first appointment will be 1 – 3 hours long. Follow-up appointments could last anything from 15 minutes to 2 hours, they can be in-office, via phone, email, Skype or Facetime.

Why do your Wellness appointments take so long?

Before you come to your appointment you will have filled out the forms I asked you to complete. I will study your results prior to your appointment. In-person you will do a lot of talking about your detailed personal and family history to uncover the underlying causes of your health problems and the circumstances around your first symptoms. I will ask about your mental well being, spiritual health, and social factors to help me see your health in the context of you as a whole person, not just in terms of your physical symptoms.

Your visit will also include a physical examination of your body to see if there are any visible signs that provide clues to what is going on under the surface. I may also suggest that you submit samples for laboratory testing; some of these tests are the same ones used by conventional clinicians (urine, stool, saliva, and/or blood tests) to aid your diagnosis, these tests are typically covered by your insurance.

Can I Skype, Facetime, email, or have a phone consultation, instead of coming into your office?

First visit has to be in the office face-to-face.

Your follow up visits can be via email, phone, Facetime or Skype and you will be billed for the time.

Can I go on a payment plan to help with costs?

CareCredit payment planIf you like, you can apply for CareCredit in the office, it is a credit card payment plan used for dental, health, wellness, beauty treatments and cosmetic procedures not covered by insurance.

Any other ways I can save on the cost of wellness visits?

Sign up for FSA Flexible Spending Account from your employer

If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that you can put money into out of your paycheck, you can use it to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care costs. You don’t pay taxes on this money. This means you’ll save an amount equal to the taxes you would have paid on the money you set aside.
